Watch Kristin’s Story · 12 Minutes
Kristin Housley
Speech-Language Pathologist
Kristin had spent years organizing herself around other people’s reactions. Even after understanding what had happened in her marriage, she was still making important decisions from fear of upsetting someone else and had lost connection with what mattered to her. She described it simply: “I had kind of forgotten I mattered at all.”
Kristin practiced recognizing what was hers to choose, releasing responsibility for what was not hers to carry, rebuilding self-trust, and responding from what mattered to her instead of automatically managing someone else’s reactions. She brought that practice into real decisions, relationships, work, and the next chapter she wanted to create.
Kristin is now making big decisions differently because she’s thinking differently. She stopped organizing her life around her former husband’s reactions, reduced a work commitment she had been hesitant to change, and began creating space for writing, relationships, and the parts of herself she wanted to bring forward again.
“I am happy now because… she’s helped me see who I really am again. I have my identity back… My life now has opened up. Everybody can see it. They’re just like, ‘What has happened to you?’”
